County Plans Historic Reopening

Weekend Full Of Events Planned to Celebrate the Grand Reopening of the Renovated Historic Courthouse

Join the "Q" as we broadcast live from the historic courthouse rededication on Friday, April 11 at 2:00p.m.

There will be 3 full days of fun and historic importance in Downtown Hendersonville.

Friday, April 11, 2008
2 - 3:30 p.m. -- Formal Grand Reopening Ceremony FREE & Open to the Public
National, state and local elected officials and special guests will lead the
ceremony which will include raising of the flag, music, commemorative address,
history message, school children from each public school and community members
placing items in time capsule, laying of a time capsule/cornerstone, ribbon cutting
and refreshments.


3:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. Henderson County Heritage Museum open


6 to 10 p.m.-- “The First Night Gala” Ticketed Fundraising Event For Heritage Museum
With guests parking at Travel & Tourism office, chauffered to Historic
Courthouse in antique cars; reception on the lawn; buffet dinner in Community Room; inaugural performance of “Henderson County: The Legacy of Chinquapin Hill” -- a 75 minute historic drama by Tom Orr & Jeannie Gooch in the Historic Courthouse Courtroom; dessert following the performance; & guests chauffered in antique cars back to parking.

A 75-minute historic drama By Tom Orr &Jeannie Gooch in the Historic Courthouse
courtroom. Tickets are FREE/but reservations required by calling 828-697-4808.

Tickets may be picked up starting April 7 at the Historic Courthouse Administrative Desk.

2 to 4 p.m.-- Veterans Monuments Dedication, Musical Tribute & Sing-a-long
Includes Commemorative wreaths placed by veterans organizations and the
rededication of war monuments, music by church choirs and Hendersonville
Community Band, sing-a-long & refreshments FREE & Open to Public
